Situated along the fabled New Jersey Shore, the town of Belmar offers gorgeous ocean views (Belmar means “beautiful sea” in French), a terrific beach and boardwalk, and plenty of outdoor activities for visitors and residents alike. The town’s biggest attractions, of course, are its sandy beaches, open year round, covering more than a mile of coastline and skirted by a popular boardwalk with plenty of seaside shopping and dining. There is also a newly renovated public marina with docks able to accommodate vessels up to 120 feet. The downtown area features more shopping and dining, and hosts everything from car shows to live music during the warmer months. Public schools in Asbury Park are administered by Asbury Park Public Schools, educating nearly 2200 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The student-teacher ratio across the school district is about 8:1.
Belmar has one public school (Belmar Elementary School), which enrolls about 550 students in grades K-8.
Belmar public school students grades 9-12 usually attend one of two nearby high schools in Monmouth County: Asbury Park High School or Manasquan High School. Students may also apply to Academy Charter High School in nearby Lake Como, or one of several career academy high schools, including: Academy of Allied Health and Science, Communications High School, Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Biotechnology High School and High Technology High School.
