Ever since it was developed in the late 1800s as a resort for vacationing New Yorkers and Philadelphians, Spring Lake has been a popular summer spot along the New Jersey Shore. But for its 2000 inhabitants, Spring Lake is much more than that—it’s a seaside home combining gorgeous ocean views with an irresistible small-town vibe, and of course, plenty of things to see and do. No wonder they call it the “Jewel of the Jersey Shore.”
Local Attractions
Spring Lake’s biggest attraction is a two-mile stretch of several beaches (two with pool facilities), spanned by the longest non-commercial boardwalk in the state. Near the center of town, the lake from which the borough draws its name offers clear waters stocked with trout and a serene, tree-lined pathway around it. While the town is largely residential, the shopping district offers more than 60 shops and an array of fine dining choices. And with all its natural beauty, Spring Lake affords outdoor enthusiasts plenty to be excited about, with tennis courts, bike paths, boating, waterskiing, fishing, horseback riding and other activities all within reach.
